This year we’re celebrating our 10 year anniversary at Seavista and can’t believe where the time has gone! We’ve met so many wonderful people, made some lifelong friends and welcomed back guests who stayed with us in our very first year.

There have been some challenges along the way but we have met them head on and loved every minute. It’s been a dream come true and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Changes

There have been so many changes in the past 10 years. We have renovated and refined but always kept our guests at the heart of everything we do.

Here’s 10 things we have added and changed since 2006:

Our appearance

In 2012 we gutted the middle floor and renovated our guest rooms. We knocked down a few walls, decorated the breakfast room and made sure our lounge, with its gorgeous view over Mawgan Porth, is a chill out haven for our guests to relax.

A lot of guests ask me where I get my design influences from. I love finding pieces of vintage furniture and combining them with modern items. My interior designer Lydia Anikitou is amazing at helping me bring everything together!

Right now, I’m loving our blue vintage lounge chairs, bookcase and honesty bar. Some of my favourite places to source interior products include Pip Studio, Graham and Green, Roos Beach and MMW in Newquay.

Self catering

We branched out and now offer our guests two self catering options – The Lodge set in its own private space with a hot tub and decked area, and our Loft apartment in the main house. Both are available for short and longer breaks, are dog friendly and give you the option of having breakfast in the main house each morning.

Our breakfasts

Speaking of breakfasts….

Our guests’ needs have changed over the years and we have reflected that in our varied breakfast menu. Healthy options have overtaken the once staple full Cornish breakfast and you will find everything from smoothies and homemade granola to seasonal fruit salad and smoked salmon.

Fact: we get through 20 avocados a week!

For those who want to indulge, our full Cornish breakfast is still a popular choice and includes locally sourced sausages, bacon and Devon and Cornwall speciality, Hogs pudding!

We also cater for special dietary requirements and provide options for vegan, gluten, wheat and dairy free diets.

Indulgent beauty products

I love Neal’s Yard and their organic health and beauty products are ideal for indulging in some ‘me’ time. New for this year, you’ll find a selection of products in your room, including guest favourite the Geranium and Orange hand wash.

If you love the products as much as me, you can buy them from us to take home with you.

Spa treatments

Our guests want to switch off, chill out and unwind during their stay and what better way to rejuvenate than with an indulgent spa treatment? You don’t even need to leave Seavista as we offer the treatments in your room – the perfect place to relax and allow the treatments to take full effect!

We were the first B&B on the North Cornwall coast to offer this unique in-room service.

Homemade flapjacks

Last year I started making homemade flapjacks for the guest rooms. They’re really popular and are frequently mentioned on our trip advisor reviews.

I get asked a lot for the recipe too…but that’s a Seavista secret 😉

Turndown service

I recently introduced a nightly turndown service. Our guests can go out for the evening and return to find the bed linen turned down, the lamps switched on, the bathroom replenished and a little night time treat – my homemade orange and goji berry chocolates!

Outdoor space

We wanted our guests to enjoy the view as much as we do, from the outside as well as in our guest lounge. This year, we have invested in some rattan outdoor furniture for our guests to relax, soak up the sun and the Mawgan Porth view in the quiet haven of our terrace.

It’s the perfect place to kick back, relax and watch a Seavista sunset!

Our family and team

We’ve grown in the past 10 years! Our dog Mojo came along in 2008. Then, in 2011 our little boy Barney came into the world, followed recently by the latest addition to our little family, Lottie our Snow Bengal cat.

We’ve also had some incredible staff work with us over the years and this year has seen some brand new faces join the Seavista team, all keen to meet you and help make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.

We all look forward to welcoming guests old and new and sharing our incredible home of Mawgan Porth with you all!

Big love
