Watchful Mary – Interior Inspiration While Sipping My Wine
It was mid afternoon in July the first time we visited The Watchful Mary, the newly opened bar overlooking Watergate Bay. I had been meaning to visit since May after hearing all the hype from my friends;
“Kate, you have to go the Watchful Mary, you haven’t been yet? You will love it, the interiors are to-die-for.”
They were right, I stepped in and was in awe, first that stunning view across the beach and onto the horizon, then as your eyes accommodate there is texture and characterful sections for customers to sit, relax and take in the gentle ambience. The dramatic wood clad ceiling with a sea of natural wicker lampshades, juxtapose with the textured walls, wooden stools sit around small tables and the bamboo lights, oversized plants and great use of dark paint, not quite black, a charcoal grey fuse together delightfully.
There are reassuringly familiar forms a nod to scandi-inspired interiors, but these have been reinterpreted through contemporary styling and materials. Created by the renowned London/Cornwall based designer Dynargh Design this Cornish bar embodies an ultra-hip mix and I left feeling completely inspired for our new Seavista.
