5 walks we love around Mawgan Porth
We love walking at Seavista! Luckily, our location in North Cornwall means we’ve got some beautiful walks here on the doorstep in Mawgan Porth.
Seavista is also handily located alongside the South West Coast path. This makes us ideal for exploring the stretch from Padstow to Newquay. Check in, chill out and wander the path. If you’re walking a few miles, our breakfast will fuel you up for a day of adventuring!
Walking gives you a new perspective and a different vantage point with views you can’t reach by car. Lots of our guests love exploring the local area on foot and I’m always asked for recommendations. So here’s 5 walks we love around Mawgan Porth;
Seavista to Bedruthan Steps
This incredible walk is a must-do and hugely popular! From the beach at Mawgan Porth follow the coast path towards Padstow and take in the dramatic clifftop views. See the giant rock stacks at Bedruthan Steps, synonymous with pirates and shipwrecks!
Head down to the beach at low tide. Then enjoy a yummy cream tea at Carnewas Tea Room at the top of the cliffs before heading back to Seavista!
Seavista to Watergate Bay
Head out of our drive and take a left to the top of the hill. Go through the gate on your right hand side around 50 yards after the entrance to Bre-Pen Farm. Join the coast path.
You’ll see the very beautiful Beacon Cove – a small, secluded sandy bay which not that many Cornwall visitors know about! It’s one of our favourite spots on a Summer evening to take in the sunset. We recommend taking a bottle of Trevibban Mill wine which we stock in our honesty bar – we can even lend you a couple of glasses!
Carrying onto Watergate Bay, head left. Admire the panoramic views across the Atlantic and Watergate’s 2-mile stretch of beach from up high at Stem Point.
Seavista to St Mawgan
Our favourite inland walk and definitely one for nature and wildlife enthusiasts! Heading down to Mawgan Porth and through the valley, you’ll discover a shady glen, home to deer and barn owls.
Walk down the hill and take the valley road heading inland. At The Park, take a left then right and follow the path into the wood. At the end, follow the path until you hit a road, head to the top of the hill and cross the road. Go through the kissing gate and continue on the path.
Finish in the village of St Mawgan with a well-earned drink at the lovely Falcon Inn.
Seavista to Mawgan Porth, circular walk
My favourite running and walking route! Join the coast path as if you were heading to Watergate, but turn right instead.
From Beacon Cove, carry on along the coast path into Mawgan Porth. Have lunch or dinner at Catch followed by a walk on the beach. Then head back up the hill to Seavista.
Chill out in the lounge or on our decking with a tipple from our honesty bar!

Harlyn to Trevose Head
Ok so you’ll need to cheat slightly with this one and jump in the car! Harlyn is only a 20 minute drive from Seavista along the coastal road. It’s a lovely wide sandy beach backed by sand dunes.
Park at Harlyn and join the coast path. Head along the cliffs past the gorgeous Mother Ivey’s Bay, past Chair’s Rock and Cat’s Cove. When you reach the iconic lighthouse at Trevose headland, take in the breathtaking views towards Pentire Head and Newquay.
If you’ve got a favourite walk you love to do during your Seavista stay, let us know! We’re always looking for new paths to explore!
