Explore Cornwall’s Best Kept Secrets…
This year we didn’t make any resolutions but we have vowed to get out and explore Cornwall more. We have lived in Cornwall for over 10 years so you’d think we’d have seen it all, but we haven’t, this is our list of places we are going to visit this year…
Wheal Coates, St Agnes – North Cornwall
Maybe one of the more obvious ones but we have never been here, it’s about a 25 minute drive from us so there really is no excuse. This former tin mine stands on the cliffs between Porthtowan and St. Agnes. Just below the ruins, is the beautiful golden sands of Porth Chapel beach. Walking boots at the ready!
The Rocky Valley, Tintagel, North Cornwall
This is an amazingly rocky valley (hence the name) that has spectacular scenery with lots of waterfalls. We can’t wait to walk through this beautiful valley, we’re not sure Mojo will be joining us for this walk!
Golitha Falls, Liskeard, North Cornwall
Set in an oak forest just three miles from Liskeard, the falls are a series of stunning cascades through a deep sided valley on the upper reaches of the River Fowey. We think we’ll pack a picnic for this trip!
Porthcothan Bay, Padstow, North Cornwall
A quiet surf spot, that is located south of Constantine Bay and only 2.7 miles from Bedruthan Steps so that’s only about 3 miles from us! Bring on a sunny summery day and we’ll be there.
Bude Seapool, Bude, North Cornwall
It looks like something that should be in California but lucky for us it is in Kernowfornia! Open everyday on Summerleaze beach, it is free and perfect to spend lazy days splashing about in. Best time to swim is low tide. We look forward to jumping into this beautiful pool some time very soon, maybe with our winter wetsuits still on.
